Ian Wright expects Saka to be Okay if he starts as a left-back for England

Ian Wright has again discussed the possibility of Bukayo Saka starting as a left-back when England faces Switzerland in the quarterfinals of Euro 2024.

The attacker played in that position in the second half of their last game against Slovakia, due to Luke Shaw and Kieran Trippier being unavailable.

Saka is recognized as England’s top right-winger, but like most of his teammates, he has struggled at the Euros.

In his brief stint as a left-back in the last game, Saka performed well, and Southgate acknowledges that using him there could enhance the team’s attacking options.

Wright has now commented on the potential for Saka to play in that role and expressed confidence that the Gunner will perform admirably regardless.

He said, as quoted by Metro Sport:

Mailbag: What’s changed watching England?

We’ve had Sven, Capello, McClaren and Hodgson come before him - so how will we remember Gareth Southgate? Marcus, Luke and Andy wonder why the English public keep saying the same things about England over the years, and whether winning a tournament would actually change anything.

Elsewhere in less soul-searching, heartfelt matters, we work out who we’d support if/when England get knocked out and decide which country has the best food to be armed with going into battle. A Toblerone vs a can of beans is a battle for the ages…

Our Euros knockouts preview!

It’s business time. And up yours, England are still in the mix. Marcus, Luke and Jim are joined by Andy – fresh back from Germany – to preview the knockouts and discuss our favourites for the tournament now we know what (the incredibly unbalanced) draw looks like.

Plus, Gareth Southgate is to blame for bad Guinness, Anthony Gordon flies over the handlebars of his bike rather than down the wing, and there’s mosquitoes in the Germany camp and – wait for it – Italian spies up Stuttgart's TV tower. But disgracefully, European football ‘expert’ Andy doesn’t know a thing about it.

Georgia do the Portuguese!

Goodbye to the group stages! And it finished with a magnificent day for Georgia, a terrible day for António Silva, and a reminder for Pete Donaldson that Cenk Tosun exists.

Pete, Jim and Vish discuss the final round of group stage sparring before the knockouts, with a sensational display from Georgia who are rapidly becoming our favourite team. Plus, Czech Republic and Turkey ruin everyone’s Ramble predictions for number of cards at the tournament in one fell swoop and there’s quite literally an electric atmosphere in the Romania vs Slovakia game. Kevin De Bruyne and co could have done with a bit of that, too…

Top of the group, bottom of the barrel

Somehow, England have finished top of their group. And somehow, they’re in the best side of the draw. The plan worked!

Marcus, Luke, Vish and Pete react to a drab 0-0 that saw no big changes from the previous game and leaves them thinking there are bigger problems with England’s front line. At least we can cling to Anthony Gordon and Cole Palmer. Oh, and we can still enjoy a nice glass of Budweiser with Geoff Hurst, of course.

Plus, a former Romanian international has a conspiracy theory and the departing Scotland team get an unwelcome Bavarian surprise.

Sit down, drink venom and relax

Italy left it very late to secure 2nd place in their group against Croatia last night. Today, Marcus, Jim, Pete and Vish are here to dissect the key talking point from the game: Was Luciano Spalletti wearing a jacket or a cardigan?

Elsewhere, Pete upsets the Italians further by calling pizza cheese on toast. Plus, the Ramblers pay tribute to the amazing Luka Modrić and share their thoughts on what they want to see from England tonight.

Scotland are out!

Jeezy peeps, man. Marcus, Vish and Luke are here to perform the Scottish post-mortem after they were knocked out in the same underwhelming fashion that reflected their whole tournament. At least they’ve still got the Nations League!

Elsewhere, the Germans survive an almighty scare while Harry Kane and Mark Lawrenson battle the mainstream media - to vastly differing outcomes, we *must* stress.

Portuguese Grant Holt

England fans are being told that the players are struggling physically so they can’t play at the desired intensity. Did they watch 41-year-old Pepe play last night?

Today, Marcus, Jim and Vish are here to wave a sad goodbye to 2pm kick-offs, they served us well! They also show concern that Belgium seem to have hit their straps. Plus, the lads are joined by Andy to question him on whether he ran on the pitch during Turkey vs Portugal.

Mr Rat

What happens when you put two English referees on one of the most exciting clashes of the group stages? A 0-0 draw. That’s what PGMOL do to ya.

Marcus, Luke and Vish react to France drawing a blank against the Dutch, while Andy shares his experience of the atmosphere in the stadium but fails to pronounce buffet correctly. Plus, they discuss Austria’s slick team performance against Poland thanks to the great Specs himself, which has left the lads worried that Austria could literally press England into their own net. But – fear not – a Serbian psychic has predicted everything will be okay...

Elsewhere, there are fresh revelations about our new favourite footballer Serjio Robert Livingstone Pohlhammer and Pete gets a new nickname.

It might not be fine

Need a comforting embrace from Marcus, Luke and Vish? Bring it in. Ignore all the nervous sweat.

The lads discuss England’s messy draw with Denmark and figure out what needs to happen next as Trent Alexander-Arnold (probably) exits the midfield, Jude Bellingham goes full Alan Pardew, and the left wing remains completely empty.

Plus, we discuss our respective icks after Italy’s most handsome man scores an own goal and Marcus discovers the best ever name in football. Plus, we relive a terrible few minutes for Chris Sutton in 1998. You’ve got to cheer yourself up somehow, right?

A uranium rod up the arse

Scotland are still in it! Despite the Power Cube scoring AGAIN in a major tournament, the Scots rallied and the Ramblers still believe they can do it. But not on two points, Jim. Stop that.

Marcus, Jim and Pete react to another afternoon barn burner, agree that England are definitely certainly absolutely better without Jamal Musiala, and figure out how to get rid of a bee hive from a stadium. Plus, who would Jim rather fight: Niclas Füllkrug or Martin Adam?

And the lads reveal how their nerves are before England’s clash with Denmark, where Marcus still has some lingering concerns…

Gary Neville explains how Arteta got the best out of Rice in a message to Southgate

Gary Neville has once again offered advice to Gareth Southgate on how to utilise Declan Rice, who is struggling to perform well for England at Euro 2024.

Rice is regarded as one of the best midfielders in Europe, but England is having difficulty getting the best out of him in the tournament. Considering his impressive form for Arsenal in the recently concluded season, he was expected to be a key player for the Three Lions in their quest for success.

However, after two matches, England’s prospects look in question and there are concerns that they might not even survive their first knockout game. This raises fears of another lost generation in English football, and Rice, in particular, cannot be proud of his performances so far.

Neville believes the midfielder has struggled because of the way he is being used by Southgate and said, as quoted by The Irish Independent:

“Mikel Arteta (Arsenal manager) moved Declan Rice out of that position (No.6) for the last 15 games of the season to bring in Jorginho and Thomas Partey, because he’s not that good at playing there.

Arsenal offered their long-term target for a reduced fee

Arsenal has the opportunity to sign Jonathan David for a reduced fee this summer as Lille prepares to cash in on the striker.

David has been one of the top performers in Europe over the last few seasons, consistently contending for the leading scorer title in France. The brilliance of Kylian Mbappe has prevented him from winning the top scorer award, but the Canadian remains one of the finest attackers in Ligue 1.

Every summer, David is linked with a move to a top club like Arsenal, but he has stayed at Lille. However, with his contract expiring in 2025, Lille is now eager to sell him while they can and have set a reasonable asking price for his signature.

According to Talk Sport, Lille is prepared to sell him for around £30 million, significantly less than his valuation last summer.

Jermaine Jenas praises Arsenal star for his performance at Euro 2024

Jermaine Jenas was impressed with William Saliba’s performance in France’s goalless draw against the Netherlands and is puzzled by the criticisms the Arsenal defender receives.

Saliba has been a starter for France at Euro 2024 and appears to have finally won over Didier Deschamps, his national team manager.

The defender started in their games against Austria and the Netherlands, but he experienced some shaky moments that were highlighted in those matches.

Despite having a largely impressive game against the Netherlands, some fans pointed out at least one mistake that could have led to a goal.

Regardless of these opinions, Saliba remains a highly-rated player, and Jermaine Jenas is baffled by the criticism directed at him.

Leandro Trossard’s father defends his poor Euro 2024 showing

Leandro Trossard is among the Arsenal stars facing criticism for their performances at Euro 2024.

The Belgian ended last season in fine form for Arsenal as the Gunners nearly won the Premier League.

However, Belgium started their Euro 2024 campaign with a shock 1-0 loss to Slovakia, leading to widespread criticism of their players.

Belgium’s squad includes top club-level talents like Jeremy Doku and Kevin de Bruyne, making the result of their first game particularly surprising.

All their stars have faced criticism at home for failing to meet expectations, with Trossard also under fire.

“I probably wasn’t the best” Rice breaks silence after England-Denmark game

Arsenal star Declan Rice has openly criticised his performance against Denmark as England continues to underperform at Euro 2024.

Despite being pre-tournament favourites, Gareth Southgate’s team is struggling, and their chances of reaching the semi-finals appear uncertain.

Rice has been starting in a midfield trio alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jude Bellingham, but their effectiveness has been questioned after lacklustre performances.

Acknowledging his own shortcomings, Rice, regarded as one of Europe’s top midfielders, admitted he did not perform at his best for his country following England’s 1-1 draw against Denmark.

The midfielder said, as quoted by 90Mins:

AC Milan is determined to add Arsenal star to their squad, here is why

AC Milan remains determined to sign Jakub Kiwior this summer, despite the defender now being a key player for Arsenal.

Kiwior initially struggled at the start of his time at the Emirates, but since the beginning of 2024, he has begun to impress whenever he plays, and Arsenal now considers him an integral part of their squad.

Mikel Arteta’s side is pleased with his contributions and expects him to continue improving. Kiwior himself is enjoying his time at the Emirates and wishes to remain with the Gunners.

However, AC Milan continues their pursuit of him and views him as a valuable addition to their defence. According to a report on Milan News, they appreciate his Serie A experience and success in another league.

Milan also values his versatility, which has proven crucial for Arsenal. They see Kiwior as a player who can strengthen their squad significantly.

Pundit slams Rice again for making “sideways and backwards passes.”

James McClean criticized Declan Rice again after his performance in England’s game against Denmark.

England has been underperforming and uninspiring in their two matches at Euro 2024 so far.

The Three Lions are one of the favourites to win the competition, but they have not met expectations, and individual players will admit they have been underwhelming.

McClean, who has been serving as a pundit during the competition, recently criticized Rice for being overrated, stating that he cannot control games like Rodri and Toni Kroos.

After the last England game, he again called out Rice for making safe passes. He said, as quoted by the Daily Mail:

‘I made a comment about Declan Rice that people have got their knickers in a twist about but for a £100million player I want to see more than just five-yard sideways and backwards passes.

Dwight Yorke urges Arsenal to invest £100million on Premier League star

Dwight Yorke has recommended that Arsenal sign a striker this summer after Benjamin Sesko snubbed them.

The Gunners are in the market for a new striker, and several names are on their shopping list.

Eventually, they will have to settle for one, and Yorke believes the player they should focus on signing for a huge fee is Alexander Isak.

The Swede has been in fantastic form for Newcastle since he moved to the Premier League, and the Magpies have made him unavailable for transfer.

Isak is one of the best strikers in the Premier League and keeps improving, but Newcastle does not want to sell him and has set a huge valuation for his signature.

United worried about Arsenal’s interest in Zirkzee as the Gunners hold a key advantage

Arsenal and Manchester United are both in the running for Joshua Zirkzee, with both clubs considering bringing him to the Premier League.

The Dutchman was in fine form for Bologna last season, earning him a place in the Netherlands squad for Euro 2024.

Bologna also qualified for the Champions League thanks to his goals and overall performance, which has now attracted interest from several clubs.

Arsenal wants him in their squad, but Manchester United is keener and worried about the Gunners’ interest.

A report on Football Insider claims United fears they will miss out on signing him if Arsenal gets serious because the Gunners have Champions League football, while they do not.
