“It’s going to be a bit weird” Smith Rowe discusses facing Arsenal as an opponent

Emile Smith Rowe will face his former team, Arsenal, for the first time this weekend since leaving the club in the last transfer window. The 24-year-old had been with the Gunners for 14 years before making the permanent switch to Fulham in the summer. Arsenal had hoped to keep Smith Rowe, but after persistent injuries and a loss of his place in the first team, he made the decision to move on. His departure was largely due to his reduced role at the club, with Mikel Arteta unable to guarantee him regular playing time.

Injuries had disrupted Smith Rowe’s progress at Arsenal, and despite showing flashes of potential, he often found himself behind the likes of Martin Odegaard in the pecking order. When Odegaard was sidelined for two months with an injury, it could have provided an opportunity for Smith Rowe, but the lack of guarantees over his role in the team made it clear that he needed a fresh start. Moving to Fulham allowed him the chance to play regularly, something that was becoming increasingly difficult at the Emirates.

Ahead of the game against Arsenal, Smith Rowe reflected on what it would mean to play against his former club. He shared his thoughts with Fulham’s media team, saying, “It’s a massive game for me personally. At the start of the season, I’ve always been thinking about playing against my former team. It’s going to be an exciting game. It’s going to be a bit weird, knowing the players for so long, and having been there for so much of my life, so it probably is going to be a bit of an emotional day. But I have to make sure I do the job for Fulham.”

While Smith Rowe could have been a valuable asset for Arsenal this season, it’s clear that moving to Fulham has allowed him to regain his form and confidence. It’s great to see him enjoying his football again and continuing to develop as a player.

Troy Deeney responds to Berbatov’s Stoke City comments about Arsenal

Troy Deeney has responded to Dimitar Berbatov’s joke that Arsenal is the “new Stoke City” because of their impressive set-piece play, specifically their dominance from corners. Arsenal has been one of the best teams in the Premier League when it comes to executing set-pieces this season, with Mikel Arteta’s side scoring twice from corners in their recent match against Manchester United. The Gunners have been developing this aspect of their game for some time, particularly after appointing a specialist set-piece coach to refine their tactics.

While Arsenal’s success from corners has earned praise from many, it has also attracted criticism, including from Berbatov, who likened their style to that of Stoke City, known for their physical and direct set-piece approach in the past. However, Deeney, the former Watford captain, took exception to this criticism. Writing in his column for The Sun, Deeney defended Arsenal’s tactics, saying, “I loved Berbatov as a player, he is a real football man. But it feels a lazy comparison from a really smart guy just to protect his old club. If United won 2-0 from two corners, would Berbatov call it a tactical masterclass? Yet, when Arsenal do it, it’s Stoke?”

Deeney went on to emphasise Arsenal’s overall dominance in the match, pointing out that the Gunners controlled possession for most of the game. He argued, “It’s called winning football,” and stressed that the criticism of Arsenal’s corner tactics is simply a reflection of their success with it.

Arsenal has found a weapon in set pieces that is unsettling for their opponents, and Deeney believes the critics are simply jealous of their effectiveness. Despite the praise and criticism, Deeney pointed out that Arsenal must continue to improve and evolve, as becoming predictable could allow opponents to eventually find ways to counter their corner routines.

Arteta admits Fulham is always a tough place for Arsenal to visit

Arsenal will visit Fulham for their next Premier League fixture, a match that the Gunners know will not be easy to win. While Arsenal has been one of the top teams in England for some time, Fulham has gained a reputation for being giant killers, capable of taking down some of the biggest sides in the league. The Cottagers are currently in excellent form, and they will do everything they can to cause problems for Arsenal on Sunday.

Arsenal is well aware of how challenging this fixture can be, having suffered from two strong performances by Fulham last season. In fact, the Gunners dropped five points across the two league encounters with the West London side. This upcoming match is expected to be similar, and Mikel Arteta is taking it very seriously as he prepares his team.

Speaking ahead of the game, Arteta acknowledged the difficulty of facing Fulham, emphasising the challenges they presented last season. He told Arsenal Media, “It’s going to be a big challenge which we experienced last year when we lost five points against them. I have been very complimentary about them, the coach and what they do, so it’s always a really tough place to go.” His words reflect the respect the team has for their opponents, but also the understanding that Fulham’s resilience could present a serious test for Arsenal’s ambitions.

Despite the challenges, Arsenal remains confident in their ability to succeed. Arteta’s squad is filled with talent, and the Gunners have the quality to defeat any team on their day. Regardless of how Fulham sets up or how they perform, Arsenal’s strength and focus will be key in securing three points at Craven Cottage. The Gunners must be in top shape, both mentally and physically, to ensure they are ready for the task at hand.

Some interesting Arsenal stats ahead of the game against Fulham

Arsenal faces Fulham this weekend in what promises to be one of the toughest games of the season. Mikel Arteta’s side has been in excellent form since the conclusion of the last international break and is eager to continue their strong performances. Despite finishing as the second-best team in the Premier League in consecutive seasons, the Gunners have shown the hunger and determination to compete at the highest level.

Fulham proved to be a challenging opponent last season, with Arsenal failing to secure a win in either of their league encounters with the Cottagers. This weekend, Arsenal will need to demonstrate that they have improved and are now better equipped to overcome difficult challenges. Arteta’s men must prove that they can break down teams that traditionally cause them problems and show that they have developed further under the Spaniard’s guidance.

Ahead of the match, Arsenal Media has highlighted some key statistics that could play a role in the game. Bukayo Saka has been outstanding in London derbies, having scored or assisted in 14 goals in 14 such fixtures. His form could make him a key player against Fulham, and the Gunners will be hoping he can continue his impressive run. Meanwhile, former players such as Emile Smith Rowe and Alex Iwobi could pose a threat; since 2017, no ex-Arsenal player has scored a home goal against the Gunners, but this streak may be tested in this match.

Defensively, Gabriel Magalhães has the opportunity to make history. He could become the first Arsenal defender since William Gallas in 2010 to score in three consecutive games. This highlights the growing influence of Arsenal’s defence, which has been solid under Arteta’s leadership.

The Fulham game will certainly be a tricky test for Arsenal, and they must be fully prepared to give everything to secure a crucial victory.

Arsenal sends scouts to Turkiye to watch red-hot Galatasaray man

Arsenal continues to monitor the progress of Victor Osimhen, who has been impressing in the Turkish top flight with Galatasaray. The Nigerian striker has long been on Arsenal’s radar, and there were high expectations last summer that the Gunners would make a move for him. However, no top clubs were able to secure his signature, and he was instead loaned out to Galatasaray for the duration of the season. Since joining the Turkish giants, Osimhen has continued to shine, solidifying his reputation as one of the top strikers in European football.

His performances in Turkey have further demonstrated his potential to succeed in multiple top-flight divisions, and Arsenal has kept a close watch on him. According to a report by Sport Witness, the Gunners have been sending scouts to observe his matches, with the club keenly aware of his ability to make an immediate impact in the Premier League. Osimhen’s form in Turkey has made it clear that he is a player capable of improving any team, and Arsenal is determined to assess whether he could fit into their plans.

Arsenal understands that if they do not act quickly, one of their rivals could swoop in and secure Osimhen’s services, which would leave the Gunners regretting the missed opportunity. With the striker remaining consistently strong in front of goal, adding him to their squad would give Arsenal a significant boost in their pursuit of the Premier League title. Strengthening their attacking options has been a priority for Arteta, and Osimhen, with his skill set and potential would be a perfect fit.

As the season progresses, Arsenal’s chances of entering the race for Osimhen could increase, and they must act decisively to secure his signature at the end of the campaign. His addition could prove crucial in Arsenal’s quest for silverware, particularly in the battle for the Premier League crown.

Atalanta pushes Arsenal away from midfielder with huge asking price

Arsenal has been tracking Atalanta midfielder Ederson for some time, with the Brazilian impressing in Serie A. Ederson has delivered standout performances in recent seasons, helping Atalanta achieve their goal of competing at the highest level in European football. His playmaking ability, composure on the ball, and versatility in midfield have made him one of the most highly regarded midfielders in Italy, attracting the attention of several top clubs across Europe.

Arsenal is one of the clubs that have shown consistent interest in Ederson as they seek to further strengthen their squad. Mikel Arteta has already assembled a talented midfield group, but he is keen to improve the depth and quality of his options, especially with the demands of competing in multiple competitions. A versatile player like Ederson could offer Arteta greater flexibility, providing an additional option in the middle of the park. The Brazilian’s ability to play both as a deep-lying playmaker and as an attacking midfielder makes him an appealing target for Arsenal as they aim to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League and European glory.

However, acquiring Ederson will not be easy. Atalanta is reportedly reluctant to part ways with their prized midfielder, especially after his successful season. The Italian club has set an asking price of €50 million for the player, which has made some interested clubs, including Arsenal, hesitant. According to Sport Witness, while Arsenal has been keeping a close eye on Ederson, they view the €50 million price tag as steep for a player who has yet to fully establish himself at the top tier of European football.

While Ederson could be an excellent addition to the squad, Arsenal may hold off on a move if the asking price doesn’t meet their valuation. With the transfer window also on the horizon, the Gunners might look to explore other options that could offer better value for money.

Enzo Maresca compares in-form Chelsea man to Declan Rice

Moises Caicedo has been one of the Premier League’s most in-form midfielders this season, with his impressive performances for Chelsea drawing comparisons to some of the best in the league, including Declan Rice. Chelsea’s manager, Enzo Maresca, recently spoke highly of Caicedo, claiming that the Ecuadorian midfielder now belongs at the same level as Rice and Rodri. Maresca said, as quoted by Goal.com: “He [Caicedo] is for sure now at that level. No doubt. Unfortunately, Rodri is injured but Declan is playing. But I think Moises can sit at that table with that kind of midfielder.”

Caicedo’s rise to prominence has been remarkable, especially considering the slow start he had after his high-profile move to Chelsea from Brighton. His performances have steadily improved, and it seems he is now living up to the £115 million price tag Chelsea paid for him.

It’s interesting to reflect on Arsenal’s pursuit of Caicedo. Back in January 2023, the Gunners were desperate to sign the midfielder as part of their bid to strengthen their midfield, but Brighton rejected their offers. In the end, Arsenal turned to Jorginho and secured a deal for Declan Rice in the summer of 2023. While Caicedo moved to Chelsea, Rice has been a brilliant addition to the Gunners, establishing himself as one of the best in the Premier League.

Rice’s transfer fee of £105 million was the subject of much debate, but he has already proved his worth at Arsenal. His leadership and ability to control games have made him indispensable to Mikel Arteta’s team. Both players, Caicedo and Rice, have had excellent seasons so far, but Arsenal’s choice to go for Rice looks like it has paid off, as he has settled into his role at the club seamlessly. While Caicedo’s growth at Chelsea is impressive, Arsenal fans can be satisfied that Rice’s impact has been immediate and crucial to the team’s success this season.

Fulham boss admits Arsenal will be more prepared to face them this season

Fulham will face Arsenal this weekend in a Premier League clash that promises to test Mikel Arteta’s men. Last season, the Gunners struggled against Marco Silva’s well-organised side, with Fulham securing a victory in one of their meetings. Silva has built a team capable of challenging even the strongest clubs, and their ambitions of securing a European spot make them a formidable opponent.

Under Silva’s management, Fulham has become known for their resilience and ability to perform at a high level against the league’s top teams. They are disciplined, well-drilled, and fearless, making every match a challenge for their opposition. Arsenal, despite being one of England’s elite clubs, knows all too well the dangers Fulham pose after last season’s encounters.

Fulham’s ability to disrupt Arsenal’s flow was evident in their previous meetings, and Silva is confident his team can deliver another strong performance. Speaking to Arsenal Media ahead of the game, Silva highlighted the challenge his side faces while also expressing belief in Fulham’s capabilities:

“Probably [Arsenal] are going to be even more aware because the reality is we played two great games against them last season. But I really believe that it’s going to be even more difficult. Firstly, because with the game last night, it’s going to be a really short [turnaround], and because they are in a great moment.

“And they are going to be more aware about our strengths, and it’s going to be tougher for us. But we like this type of challenge. We have to embrace it, and to go with full confidence that we can repeat the same [as last season].”

For Arsenal, the key to victory will be maintaining focus and delivering a consistent performance throughout the game. Fulham’s tenacity means the Gunners cannot afford to underestimate their opponents if they aim to secure three points.

Lia Walti unavailable for Arsenal WSL clash v Aston Villa Women at Emirates Stadium

At last the women’s super league is back following the November-December international break. On Sunday our Arsenal Women take on Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium. Our Gunners will be hoping to pick up from where they left off before the international break.

Fixture details: Arsenal Women v Aston Villa Women – WSL

Date: Sunday, December 8thKick Off: 2:00pmLocation: Emirates StadiumWatch the match live: Youtube @barclayswsl

Arsenal went on international break on a run of 4 wins, which came during their fine run under interim manager Renee Slegers. Under Renee, the Gunners are unbeaten in 7 straight games; that is, 6 wins and a draw in what makes their run before that break look great, under Renee Slegers.

One could argue that Chelsea Women’s unbeaten record in the 2024-25 league has given them an advantage in the title race, but anything can happen. Therefore, Arsenal should aim to pick win after win, hoping to capitalize on the Blues’ potential (though unlikely, in my opinion) slippage.

A strong Arsenal lineup should, on Sunday, defeat a Villa team that has only managed one win and one draw in their last five games across all competitions.

That said, Arsenal will be without Lia Walti this weekend. During the international break, she experienced discomfort, and a checkup revealed an abscess. Renee Slegers revealed she’s still in Switzerland recovering. She will therefore miss the game on Sunday.

Declan Rice desperately wants Bukayo Saka to break PL record “that’d be massive for him”

The Premier League all-time single-season assist record by a player is currently at 20 assists. Arsenal legend Thierry Henry set that record in the 2002-03 season; Kevin De Bruyne equalled it in the 2019-20 season.

After 14 Premier League match days this season, Arsenal’s star player Bukayo Saka has already recorded 10 assists. With 24 PL match days remaining, experts predict that the Hale End star will surpass the PL’s all-time single season assist record. There’s a feeling he’ll rack up 20 or more league assists.

After the Gunners’ 2-0 win over the Red Devils Wednesday night, Declan Rice expressed his wish that Saka breaks the PL assists’ record. He showed his disappointment that Saka failed to achieve another assist on Wednesday night. Arsenal scored from a well-hit Saka corner; Thomas Partey’s header could have gone into the net, but it was a Saliba deflection that saw the ball find the back of the net.

“He’d have been fuming!” Rice joked when he learned Saka narrowly missed out on being credited for an assist after his corner led to Arsenal’s second goal. “That would have been another one closer to the record. I want him to get that; that’d be massive for him.”

Given how lethal Arsenal are from corners, surely it increases the chances of Saka getting more assists from them.

“It’s not a coincidence.” Mikel Arteta discusses Odegaard’s impact on his team

Mikel Arteta has acknowledged the pivotal role Martin Odegaard plays in Arsenal’s performances, highlighting the Norwegian’s influence following a masterful display in their 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest. Odegaard has been central to Arsenal’s system since his arrival, with Arteta shaping the team’s style and tactics around his unique abilities. His return from a two-month injury absence has clearly rejuvenated the squad, as evidenced by their commanding performance.

The club’s decision to exercise patience during Odegaard’s recovery, despite the temptation to reintegrate him prematurely, is now paying dividends. During his time away, Arsenal managed to maintain competitive form but lacked the fluidity and incisiveness Odegaard brings. His decision to forgo representing Norway during the last international break further underscored his focus on regaining full fitness, and the results were clear for all to see against Forest.

Arteta didn’t shy away from emphasising Odegaard’s value after the match. Speaking to BBC Sport, he remarked, “It’s not a coincidence. The team flows in a different way when he is playing.” This succinct statement encapsulates the transformative impact Ødegaard has on Arsenal’s gameplay, as his vision, passing, and leadership set the tempo for the team.

The Norwegian’s presence doesn’t just enhance individual performances; it elevates the entire squad. Players like Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli thrive in the attacking spaces Odegaard creates, while his composure on the ball inspires confidence throughout the team.

Arsenal’s challenge moving forward is to ensure Odegaard stays fit for the remainder of the campaign. His importance cannot be overstated, and with his influence, the team can push for consistency and reclaim the dynamic form that saw them excel last season. Every player must contribute effectively to capitalise on Odegaard’s brilliance, as his performances could be the key to Arsenal’s success.

“Arsenal looked like” Pundit says Arsenal is back to its best form

Arsenal delivered a commanding performance in their 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, showcasing one of their most cohesive displays this season. The Gunners have grappled with inconsistency since the campaign began, largely due to injuries sidelining key players. Among the absentees, Martin Odegaard’s presence has been particularly missed. However, his return for this match was a game-changer, as the Norwegian orchestrated Arsenal’s midfield with his trademark precision and creativity.

The match was a testament to Arsenal’s depth and collective quality. Bukayo Saka was unstoppable on the flanks, tormenting the Forest defence throughout the game. Even the substitutes left their mark, further underscoring the team’s dominance. Arsenal’s ability to maintain intensity from start to finish was reminiscent of their peak form from last season.

The win is an encouraging sign for Mikel Arteta’s side, as they look to build momentum and reassert themselves as serious contenders. Speaking on the performance, Sky Sports’ Sam Blitz highlighted the significance of this turnaround: “Arsenal looked like their old selves again. This was much more like the team we saw last season that dominated games and gave very little away at the other end.” Blitz also pointed out Arsenal’s newfound defensive solidity, adding: “As the Gunners looked far more potent from open play than before the international break, their own goal was barely threatened. David Raya did not face a shot on target, while all of Forest’s shots came from set pieces.”

The Gunners’ seamless attacking transitions, combined with a rock-solid defence, set the tone for an excellent team effort. While Odegaard’s return undeniably galvanised the squad, every player contributed to the victory. The challenge now lies in maintaining this standard as Arsenal seeks to reclaim the form that made them such a formidable force last season. Consistency will be key, but this win is a step in the right direction.

Emmanuel Petit says Nwaneri’s goal is a message to Gabriel Jesus

Gabriel Jesus endured a frustrating afternoon in Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, playing the full 90 minutes without finding the back of the net. The match, which showcased Arsenal’s dominance, also highlighted Jesus’ ongoing struggles with form and consistency. The Brazilian striker has faced scrutiny this season, and this game provided an opportunity to silence his critics. However, he failed to capitalise, leaving doubts about his place in the squad.

Adding to Jesus’ woes, 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri made an emphatic impact. Introduced with just eight minutes of regular time remaining, the talented youngster scored Arsenal’s third goal, capping off a memorable cameo. Nwaneri has been pushing for more minutes, and his clinical finish has intensified calls for Mikel Arteta to trust him more. The teenager’s performance has sparked debate about whether he could eventually challenge Jesus for a starting role.

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit weighed in on the situation, suggesting that Nwaneri’s goal sends a concerning signal to Jesus. Speaking on Premier League Productions, Petit remarked: “It sends a bad message to Gabriel Jesus, who was on the pitch for at least an hour. After ten minutes, Nwaneri scored a goal. He is a promising young guy with a bright future, and I hope he gets more time to play.”

Jesus’ form has been inconsistent, and his inability to trouble Nottingham Forest’s defence underscores the need for improvement. While Arteta rested Kai Havertz to provide Jesus with a chance to prove himself, the Brazilian striker’s lack of impact could lead to reduced opportunities in future games. The emergence of Nwaneri as a viable attacking option only adds pressure on Jesus to step up his performances.

For Arsenal, having young talents like Nwaneri pushing established players is a positive sign. However, for Gabriel Jesus, it means he must urgently rediscover the form that made him such a valuable acquisition for the Gunners.

“Star of the show.” Pundit heaps praise on impressive Arsenal man

Martin Odegaard delivered a masterclass as Arsenal triumphed over Nottingham Forest with a commanding 3-0 victory. The Norwegian midfielder, returning to peak form after an extended injury layoff, was pivotal in a match where the Gunners showcased their dominance. Arsenal had missed Odegaard’s creative spark for much of the last two months after an injury during the September international break kept him sidelined. His return just before the November break, coupled with a decision to forgo international duties to focus on recovery, has proven invaluable.

Against Forest, Odegaard demonstrated why he is regarded as the engine of Arsenal’s midfield. His ability to control the tempo, dictate play, and create opportunities was evident throughout the game. Nottingham Forest, known for their strong counterattacking football this season, struggled to contain him. His presence elevated Arsenal’s overall play, allowing players like Bukayo Saka to shine. Saka delivered an impressive performance, contributing a goal and an assist, but it was Odegaard’s influence in the centre of the park that unlocked Forest’s defensive lines.

Former Manchester United and England midfielder Owen Hargreaves highlighted Odegaard’s brilliance on Premier League productions, stating, “Nottingham Forest have been unbelievable this season, especially on the counterattack. But it was probably too much to ask of them to turn up and do something at the Emirates. Martin Odegaard was absolutely star of the show.”

The win underscored the importance of Odegaard’s role in Mikel Arteta’s side. His creative vision and technical excellence make him an irreplaceable part of the squad. With Odegaard fully fit and back to his best, Arsenal’s aspirations for a successful season look even more promising. Fans and teammates alike will hope he can maintain this level of performance and avoid further injury setbacks as the campaign progresses.

Seems Arsenal have made up their minds about Trossard’s future

Arsenal is reportedly set to offer Leandro Trossard a new contract, as Mikel Arteta continues to be impressed with the Belgian attacker’s performances. Since joining the club, Trossard has proven himself to be one of Arsenal’s most reliable players, consistently delivering solid displays whenever called upon. His versatility in attack has allowed Arteta to rotate him effectively, especially with Gabriel Martinelli, and the Belgian has often made an impact coming off the bench. Trossard’s adaptability has made him a key player for the Gunners, with his technical ability and work rate proving invaluable.

Despite the stiff competition for places in Arsenal’s attacking lineup, Trossard has managed to carve out a regular spot for himself in the squad, often alternating with Martinelli for starting positions. Arteta has expressed satisfaction with both players’ contributions, and Trossard’s influence on the pitch has not gone unnoticed. At 29, the Belgian forward is still in the prime of his career, and Arteta believes he can continue to play an important role in the team moving forward.

The Gunners are keen to secure Trossard’s services for the long term, and it is understood that the club is preparing to offer him a new deal. According to the Daily Mail, Trossard is one of the next players in line for a contract renewal, with both parties optimistic about reaching an agreement. The Belgian has also expressed his happiness at being in North London, and the mutual desire to extend his stay at the club is clear.

Trossard’s importance to the team has been evident throughout the season, and securing his services for the future would be a significant boost for Arsenal. His continued presence in the squad is something the Gunners will undoubtedly value in the seasons to come.

Odegaard and Saka-inspired Arsenal cut down Nottingham Forest

Arsenal secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest this afternoon, displaying renewed determination in the title race.

The Gunners started the game brightly and had the ball in the back of the net within five minutes, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

With Kai Havertz absent and Martin Odegaard returning to the lineup, Arsenal employed a short-passing strategy to break down their opponents.

The tactic was a joy to watch, and it didn’t take long for Arsenal to capitalise, as Bukayo Saka opened the scoring after finding space to unleash a clinical shot.

Forest struggled to respond to Arsenal’s relentless pressure, and the Gunners continued to dominate the early stages of the match.

Confirmed Arsenal team to face Nottm Forest – Jesus starts, Partey, Havertz and Rice on the bench

So, the question remains as to when Arsenal will finally break their non-winning run, but we certainly have much more chance of doing so now that Timber, Calafiori, Merino and Odegaard are all fit enough to make the starting line-up today.

There are a few wildcards thrown in by Arteta as well, like Jorginho and Jesus starting, but Declan Rice starting from the bench. We also have Martinelli, Havertz and Partey being given a rest, which I can only think is because Mikel Arteta has got more than one eye on Tuesday’s visit to Lisboon in the Champions League on Tuesday.

I assume that this means that Arteta thinks he can rest players despite Forest actually being above us in the table, but keeping some players for the much bigger Premier European competition.

So here is his surprising starting XI….

Let’s hope this team can be enough to get us the whole 3 points against a high flying Forest team….

Can Mikel Arteta win his 250th game in charge of Arsenal today?

Arteta will reach Arsenal milestone against Nottingham Forest today.

The gooners will fondly remember the first game in which Arteta took charge of the Gunners, in December 2019 the Gunners were in the search for a new manager after the dismissal of Unai Emery. Many names were on the list of the hierarchy at the time but as the days and weeks went on, it was becoming clear that Arteta would be the one to lead us forward.

He could’ve joined us earlier if you can believe it, we had an interest in bringing him in over a year prior to his arrival in 2019. He was a potential candidate to replace Arsène Wenger before we eventually went with Unai Emery in the summer of 2018. Fast forward almost 18 months later in December 2019, Arteta finally got the hard task of dragging Arsenal back to the top.

Inside the first eight months of his career, he was looking to be doing exactly that when he won us the FA cup, followed by a Community Shield win in the summer of 2020. Fast forward four years onward however, we haven’t won anything else since. Despite that sad fact, we have taken massive strides in the right direction in those four years. We went from top four aspirants to firm title challengers under him, but the next step now is to finally get across the finish line.

This season hasn’t inspired any confidence in us finally doing that under him but as we get back to action from the break against Nottingham Forest, we will be hoping to get our season on track again. This will be no ordinary game for Mikel Arteta, this game will mark another special milestone in his career with the Arsenal so far. Indeed against Forest today, Arteta will take charge of his 250th game for the Gunners. A journey that started five years ago is still going on strong and though he hasn’t won anything major yet, I still have confidence in him taking us even further forward!

POTM Lina Hurtig scores against former club, Juventus, to book Arsenal Women’s UWCL QF spot

If there’s one thing Renee Slegers has done well in her time as the Arsenal Women’s manager, it is knowing how to fully utilise the Arsenal women squad. If there’s something most Gooners were ready to go to an argument about, it’s how strong their squad was.

The only issue the Gooners had with the team was the fact that former head coach Jonas Eidevall didn’t know his best team and also wasn’t great at making substitute calls.

7 games in charge, 6 wins, and a draw—one of the great things Renee has done is how she’s handled the Arsenal squad. She’s found the strongest Arsenal team, and while at it, she’s kept everyone happy by making the right substitute calls that have impacted the team.
A number of games, Arsenal have had to rely on the players coming from the bench for game-changer cameos for wins.

On Thursday night, Arsenal versus Juventus could have easily ended 0-0, but substitutes Lina Hurtig and Stina Blackstenius made the difference. Blackstenius set up the ex-Juventus forward for a tap-in that saw her former employers leave London without Champions League qualification.

The difference maker
