William Hogarth was an English painter, printmaker, pictorial satirist, social critic, and editorial cartoonist. His work ranges from realistic portraiture to series of paintings and drawings called "modern moral subjects." He is he is perhaps best known for his series A Harlot's Progress, A Rake's Progress , Marriage A-la-Mode, and The Four Stages of Cruelty. I have also included in the gallery his Election Scenes of 1755.
